The confirmation email your customers expect is probably switched off
Every RentalTide account ships with booking confirmation, pre-trip and post-trip automations already written. They start disabled — one toggle turns them on.
This week: Automations.
Where to find it
Open Outreach → Automations from the left-hand panel.
You'll find three automations already built for you:
- Booking/Order Confirmation — fires when a booking is made
- Pre-Trip Reminder — fires before the trip starts
- Post-Trip Follow-Up — fires when the trip ends
Why it matters
They ship Off. Every one of them.
That means the confirmation email your customer is sitting there waiting for after they book — the one with their date, their boat, and what they paid — is not going out. Neither is the reminder the day before, or the review request after. Those are the three messages that stop the "wait, did my booking go through?" phone call before it happens.
Nothing is missing from your account. It's just switched off.
How to turn one on
- Find Booking/Order Confirmation.
- Flip the toggle on the right to On.
- Click the pencil icon to open it and see what it actually sends.
Inside, you'll see the trigger — when a booking is created — and the email that goes out immediately after. That's the whole flow: an event, a delay, a message.
Check the trigger before you walk away
Turning it on is thirty seconds. Reading the trigger is worth another thirty. Every automation is an event plus a timing plus a message, and the timing is the part people get wrong — a reminder that fires one day before a trip is useless to a guest who booked that morning.
Open each of the three, confirm the trigger matches how your customers actually book, and you've covered the messages that matter most.
See you next week.

Hey, how's it going? So today's thirty second tip is going to be in Communications.
On the left-hand side, under Outreach, you want to go into Automations and make sure that you have your communications set up. So in this case, Booking/Order Confirmation is turned off. We're going to want to enable that.
And then edit it — head into here and see what these triggers are. So when the booking is created, here we are going to immediately send the triggered event, which is this email.
